black double oval killers tying 18 cent brown carmine "prexie" (#823) and 3 cent violet This cancel was used by Binghamton from 1941 to 1943. The "2" in the dial
Iowa Centennial (#838). Stamps paid the 3 cent first class rate and the 18 cent
registration fee for $5.01 to $25.00 indemnity effective July 1, 1932.
Binghamton - Late 1930's or 1940's: Third Class, Regular, Bulk/Quantity-Discount
From October 1, 1932 to February 24, 1949 to qualify for regular, bulk/quantity-discounted rates it was necessary to
mail two hundred or more identical pieces or a total of twenty pounds of identical pieces in one mailing. The phrase
"Sec. 562, P.L.&R." was required to be printed or handstamped either above or below the stamp. Binghamton, Type 61,
Bureau pre-cancel on 1 cent green prexie (#804) which paid the 1 cent minimum per piece rate.

BINGHAMTON/AUG 20/730 PM/2/1941/N.Y. Universal Ca400 machine cancel, 22mm Black CDS with "2" in the dial;
Slogan cancel, "BUY/DEFENSE SAVINGS/BONDS AND STAMPS" ties 3 cent violet (#901).
This cancel was used by Binghamton from 1941 to 1945. The "2" in the dial
indicates this cover was cancelled on machine #2 at the Binghamton post office.
Binghamton Patriotic - 1943 Local Letter Rate
BINGHAMTON/SEP 14/2 PM/2/1943/N.Y. Universal Ca400 machine cancel, 22mm Black CDS with "2" in the dial;
Rose carmine Allied Nations (#907) pays the 2 cent per ounce carrier post
office local rate effective July 1, 1933. Patriotic envelope "Go Without
So They Won't Have To" (Sherman 2629). The "2" in the dial indicates this
cover was cancelled on machine #2 at the Binghamton post office.
Binghamton Patriotic - 1944
BINGHAMTON/APR 27/920 AM/2/1944/N.Y. Universal Ca400 machine cancel, 22mm Black CDS with "2" in the dial;
Violet Win The War stamp (#905) pays the 3 cent first class rate effective
July 6, 1932. Patriotic envelope "We Will Gain The Inevitable Triumph"
(Sherman 8825). The "2" in the dial indicates this cover was cancelled
on machine #2 at the Binghamton post office.
Binghamton Patriotic To Canada - 1944
BINGHAMTON/SEP 5/1030 AM/2/1944/N.Y. Universal Ca400 machine cancel, 22mm Black CDS with "2" in the dial;
Red violet Telegraph Centenary (#924) pays the 3 cent first-class
rate to Nova Scotia, Canada. The rate to Canada was the same as
the domestic first-class rate. Humorous patriotic envelope.
