Binghamton - 1850's: Cross border usage to Canada

BINGHAMTON/SEP/1/N.Y. 31mm Black CDS; "B" close to "N"; Black 11mm italic style "10".
                      Blue "UdSTATES" in framed arc added at Buffalo, NY Exchange office.  Blue "6d" handstamp
                      also most likely added in Buffalo reflecting 6 pence (10 cents) postage due upon receiprt.

 Drop Letter Black 22mm PAID 1 ct. in circle
             Rate for drop letters, per Act of March 3, 1851.  Drop letter rate
             remained at 1 cent until Act of March 3, 1863, when it increased to 2 cents.
