Binghamton - 1850 CDS With Integral Rate: Earliest Reported
BINGHAMTON/24/DEC/5/N.Y. 34mm Red CDS; "B" close to "N" with integral 5. This is the earliest
reported usage of this type CDS per Wilcox. Paid the 1/2 ounce
letter rate of 5 cents for under 300 miles effective July 1, 1845.
Binghamton - 1851 CDS With Integral Rate: New Latest Reported
BINGHAMTON/6/MAR/5/N.Y. 34mm Red CDS; "B" close to "N" with integral 5. This is a new latest
reported usage of this type CDS. Previously, Wilcox listed the
latest usage as February 19, 1851. Paid the 1/2 ounce letter
rate of 5 cents for under 300 miles effective July 1, 1845.
Binghamton - Probably 1851
BINGHAMTON/16/AUG/N.Y. 31mm Black CDS; "B" close to "N"; Black 27mm PAID 3 in circle.
This is the larger, scarcer PAID 3 in circle. The 20mm is most common.
Wilcox reported this type of PAID 3 only from September 22, 1851, so this
is most likely a new earliest reported date for this larger variety.
Paid the 1/2 ounce pre-paid rate of 3 cents for up to 3000 miles effective June 30, 1851.

BINGHAMTON/19/SEP/N.Y. 34mm Blue CDS; "B" close to "N"; Blue 27mm PAID 3 in circle. This is the
cover that Wilcox showed to be the earliest date known for this larger variety
of the PAID 3 in circle. However Wilcox stated the color to be black, not blue.
Paid the 1/2 ounce pre-paid rate of 3 cents for up to 3000 miles effective June 30, 1851.

BINGHAMTON/SEP/7/N.Y. 31mm Black CDS; "B" close to "N"; Black 20mm PAID 6 in circle.
Double the 1/2 ounce pre-paid rate of 3 cents for up to 3000 miles.
